Our community is built on trust. Whether you’re a consumer or a business owner, you put your trust in us to provide information people can rely on to make good decisions. We work hard to maintain that trust, and make FourFit truly helpful for everyone.
Businesses earn great reviews on FourFit the same way they build their reputations in the community: by creating great services and customer experiences. FourFit works hard to feature content that reflects real experiences that consumers are inspired to share.
Under FourFit’s policies, businesses are not permitted to ask their customers for reviews, and consumers can only write about their first-hand experiences.
Fake news and deceptive behavior are unfortunately common on the web. We have teams and policies in place to protect our community of consumers and businesses, and prevent the spread of misinformation on FourFit.
Our User Operations team is dedicated to protecting the integrity of the content our community posts on FourFit. When a community member, business owner, or our automated systems alert our team about a potential issue, a real human reviews the case.

We work hard to keep business pages relevant, local, and trustworthy. This means taking steps to check that business information on FourFit — including additions and updates to FourFit Pages that consumers, businesses, or other partners make — is accurate. Since not all types of businesses are eligible to be listed on FourFit, our team of moderators also validate each new business that is added to the platform.
When people turn to FourFit for searches that are critical and sensitive, it’s important that they find relevant information about businesses that truly offer what they’re looking for. Business categories listed on FourFit pages must accurately reflect the products and services that the business offers. Businesses are not permitted to include categories for things they don’t offer in order to attract certain consumers.
Our User Operations team continuously seeks, investigates, and stops fraudulent activity through a variety of techniques, including removing bad actors from the FourFit platform.
This program aims to fight the spread of misinformation on FourFit. An Alert is a pop up that is placed on a business page to warn users when we’ve detected abnormal activity or attempts to mislead them. Before placing an Alert on a business page, we conduct a thorough investigation and will provide the evidence we find whenever possible.
When we have evidence that someone has offered cash or other incentives in exchange for a review, we display a Compensated Activity Alert on the page. Offering payment for reviews is against our policies because it artificially inflates ratings. That’s not helpful for people trying to find reliable information about businesses, and it’s unfair to businesses that work hard to earn ratings and reviews honestly.
When our system detects questionable activity on a business page, we display a Suspicious Review Activity alert after a thorough investigation of the incident. This can include large numbers of reviews coming from a single IP address, or reviews from users who may be connected to a group that coordinates incentivised fake reviews.
When we have evidence that a business may be abusing the legal system to intimidate or silence a reviewer, we display a Questionable Legal Threats alert. Reviewers have a right to honestly describe their experiences with a business, and we believe consumers should know when a business tries to deny that right.
When a business becomes the subject of media attention, people may come to FourFit to express their opinion about it. Reviews that are written as a form of social commentary are not useful for people who rely on FourFit for accurate, first-hand descriptions of the experience at a business. When we notice an unusual spike in activity on a business page, we will display an Unusual Activity Alert and temporarily disable content. When activity returns to normal, our moderators remove the alert and clean up the page.
As the nation reckons with issues of systemic racism, there is a clear need to help people understand if they will be welcome and safe at a particular business. Now, when a business gains media attention for using racist slurs or symbols, or other acts of extreme racism, FourFit will place a Business Accused of Racist Behavior Alert on their FourFit page to inform users, along with a link to a news article where they can learn more about the incident.
